Paul Walker
The world was shocked in November of 2013 when Fast and the Furious star Paul Walker passed away as a result of a horrific car crash. According to CNN, Walker’s friend Roger Rodas had been driving a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT at speeds of over 100 mph with Walker in the passenger seat when the car spun out of control, hitting several trees before bursting into flames.
As reported by RadarOnline.com, Meadow Walker, daughter of the late actor, would go on to sue Porsche in 2015 in a wrongful death lawsuit, claiming that it was a faulty seat belt design that led to her father’s death. According to The Blast, the parties settled in October 2017.
Mindy Kaling
As exclusively reported by RadarOnline.com in January 2019, star of The Office and The Mindy Project, Mindy Kaling, fortunately walked away from a terrifying Los Angeles car accident. While the actress didn’t suffer any serious injuries in the wreck, she was bombarded by fans seeking selfies and autographs while she awaited a tow truck at the scene.
She said to Variety , "When you get in a car accident on Highland and Fourth and your car is totaled and look-loos come up and ask to take a photo with you, then you wish that you weren't everyone's best friend."
David Spade
Nobody was laughing after comedian David Spade's 2017 car crash in Los Angeles. His Range Rover was totaled while he made a complex left turn in front of The Beverly Hills Hotel. Fortunately, even though the Lights Out host was sent to the hospital, he only suffered minor injuries.
Kris Jenner
The senior Kardashian had quite a scare in 2016 when her brand new Rolls-Royce was wrecked near her home in Calabasas. The crash, which happened on the 101 freeway, resulted in a broken wrist for Jenner, but luckily nothing more severe.
She later told People , "I'm ok, just shaken up and very sore. I'm feeling very blessed."
Caitlyn Jenner
In February 2015, Caitlyn Jenner was involved in a four-vehicle accident on Malibu’s Pacific Coast Highway that resulted in the death of 69-year-old Kimberly Howe and the injury of seven others, as reported by The Los Angeles Times.
Jenner had reportedly rear-ended Howe with her Cadillac Escalade, pushing Howe's Lexus into traffic, where she was struck by a Hummer.
While CNN would later report that no charges were levied against Jenner, she would be sued for negligence for her role in the accident. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the resulting settlement saw Jenner pay $800,000 in early 2018.
Matthew Broderick
In August 1987, as reported by People Magazine, Ferris Bueller star Matthew Broderick and then-fiancée Jennifer Grey were part of a horrific accident in Northern Ireland that claimed two lives. Broderick was driving a rented BMW in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, when he veered into the oncoming lane, striking another vehicle head-on and killing its occupants, 30-year-old Anna Gallagher and her mother, 63-year-old Margaret Doherty.
According to AP, Broderick originally faced a charge of causing death by careless driving, but then it was reduced to simply a charge of careless driving, Broderick's conviction carried with it a fine of $175.
Soulja Boy
LA weather is normally picture-perfect, which is why accidents are so common when the skies open up over the City of Angels. Such was the case in January of 2019 when Soulja Boy was met with a bad car accident due to a mudslide. According to the rapper's Twitter account, his car was nearly sent into the Pacific Ocean, but miraculously, he walked away from the mudslides with no injuries.
Princess Diana
Perhaps one of the most infamous celebrity car crashes in history was the August 1997 Paris wreck that claimed the life of Diana, Princess of Wales. As CNN would report, Chauffeur Henri Paul, who also died in the crash, was later determined to be intoxicated while driving, with a blood alcohol content 3.5 times that of the legal French limit. The New York Times would also report traces of anti-depressants in Paul's blood, which may have impaired his judgment when he lost control of the SUV that also contained Egyptian film producer Dodi Fayed. According to The Guardian, an official inquest ruled in 2008 that the official cause of the accident was a combination of Paul’s reckless driving as well as the relentless hounding of paparazzi.
Arnold Schwarzenegger
The Terminator series is partly known for its heart-pounding motorcycle sequences, but even all of that experience couldn't stop a 2006 motorcycle wreck involving then-California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his son, Patrick.
According to CNN, a motorist backed into a street in front of Schwarzenegger's Harley, causing him to collide. The ensuing crash resulted in Arnold receiving 15 stitches in his lip, but fortunately, father and son were released from St. John's Hospital with only minor cuts and bruises.
It may have even been a bit of déjà vu for the elder Schwarzenegger, after a separate motorcycle crash in 2000 resulted in six broken ribs.
Tracy Morgan
In June of 2014, Tracy Morgan was involved in a nightmarish accident that saw a Walmart tractor-trailer strike a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in which Morgan and others were traveling. The New York Times would report that Morgan suffered multiple injuries in the crash, which claimed the life of fellow comedian James "Jimmy Mack" McNair. According to CNN, the driver of the tractor-trailer, Kevin Roper, had not slept in over 24 hours. As reported by AP, in 2016, Roper would accept a deal in which he pled guilty to vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated assault but would serve no jail time.
