Amber Portwood attacked her boyfriend Andrew Glennon with a machete before her domestic violence arrest, but the shocking details of the incident don’t end there.
Not only did the Teen Mom OG star threaten suicide, but she also swallowed a “handful of pills.”
Portwood was arrested on Friday, July 5 following the shocking incident. As RadarOnline.com broke, a no-contact order was issued.

Holiday From Hell
In the Affidavit for Probable Cause obtained from Marion County Court, which The Ashley’s Reality Roundup was the first to report on, Glennon explained to the Department of Child Services that they planned to drive to Geist Bridge to see fireworks, but were unable to get through the traffic. He claimed Portwood, 27, made him feel like he “dropped the ball.”
First Attack
When they returned home, she grabbed a shoe off the rack and hit him with it. “Mr. Glennon stated he was holding James and he turned to the side to avoid him getting struck with the shoe,” the affidavit read. He left to buy her a gift and food.
Monster Mom
When he returned, Portwood came to him like she was “going to hit him.” She told him to put James down, but he refused because he was “crying and upset.”
Suicide Threat
That’s when Portwood “threatened to kill herself. “Ms. Portwood went to her drawer and took a handful of Klonopin and tossed it back like it was nothing,” the court papers read. She “regurgitated the pills” when he said he was going to call for help.
Deadly Weapon
She then picked up the machete towards him and their son. He locked himself and James in the room. “She hit the door with the machete and kicked the door and broke the handle,” the report read. That’s when he called for help.
Her Side
Backup was called, as Portwood started “yelling at the officer.” Portwood denied the incident with the pills and machete, but admitted to hitting him while he was holding the 1-year-old.
Past Abuse
Glennon told authorities that she struck him “several times in the past” and has threatened him “countless” other times with physical violence. As for the shoe incident, she told authorities, “It was in the shoulder, and I barely hit him.” She was frustrated because he recorded her “yelling.”
No Contact
As RadarOnline.com broke, a no-contact order was issued to protect Gennon and their child. RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal details of the order. Portwood is ordered to have no firearms, deadly weapons or ammunition in her possession. She is ordered to have no contact with Glennon or her son through "phone, letter, through an intermediary, or in any other way, directly or indirectly, except through an attorney of record." She is also prohibited from visiting any location where she knows they could be. The court granted the order.
Mugshot
Portwood was arrested on Friday, July 5. She was released on July 6 after being bailed out. She was charged with one count of domestic battery, a felony count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, and a felony count of domestic battery.
It’s Over?
“She’s staying with her mom right now,” a source exclusively told RadarOnline.com. “She’s telling friends their relationship is up in the air.”
Custody Taken Away?
However, Glennon appears to be done with her. In addition to the no-contact order, he also filed for petition for paternity related orders and for emergency hearing regarding custody of a child on Tuesday, July 9.
Shocking History
Portwood struggles with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. She was arrested on domestic violence charges in 2010 after a fight with baby daddy Gary Shirley, who is the father of her daughter Leah, 10. She served 17 months in prison on drug charges and was released in 2013. Shirley was granted full custody of Leah at the time.
