Portwood, 29, was arrested after assaulting her boyfriend. A police spokesperson told RadarOnline.com at the time, “Officers spoke to the male victim, who stated his live-in-girlfriend and he were having a disagreement. During which time the female, later identified as Amber Portwood, assaulted him, while he was holding their 1-year-old child.”
According to the dispatch audio recording obtained from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, a responder claimed, “I received a text message from somebody saying that their life and their son’s life is in danger.”
A spokesperson for Marion County Jail in Indiana told RadarOnline.com that Portwood was released on Saturday, July 6 at 4:30pm. The clerk also confirmed that she was released on a cash bond of $2,000. RadarOnline.com can reveal a woman unrelated to Portwood bailed her out, not her baby daddy Glennon. She has a court hearing on Wednesday, July 10.
Portwood was arrested on domestic violence charges in 2010 after a fight with baby daddy Gary Shirley, who is the father of her daughter Leah, 10.
Previous Stint Behind Bars
She served 17 months in prison on drug charges and was released in 2013. Shirley was granted full custody of Leah at the time.
Mental Health Issues
Portwood struggles with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. On this week’s episode, she admitted to getting off her medication so she could drink alcohol with her co-stars.
On a recent episode, she opened up about her mood swings.
“I haven’t been doing very well when it comes to mood swings,” she said to her therapist. “Every tiny thing will enrage me. Sometimes I feel attacked when Andrew doesn’t understand things.”
She continued, “Every year I’ve tried with medications. I’ll do anything. I love this man more than anything. He treats me really well. I feel like I’m a bad person sometimes. It’s like a war with this f**king brain. I want to hear someone tell me there is a cure. So I could walk outside and feel happy.”
