Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and girlfriend Saffire Matos are engaged, mere weeks after she called the cops on him for alleged domestic violence.
According to People, Ortiz-Magro's family – including his 3-year-old daughter, Ariana Sky Magro, who he shares with ex-girlfriend Jen Harley – was present to celebrate the couple's Saturday engagement.
"Ronnie has been taken [sic] this time to work on himself and his daughter," a source told the publication. "For him, he felt like this [was the] right time. They're both really happy for this next chapter. His health and happiness are what is most important."
Ronnie and Saffire have been dating since last fall, but their relationship has been far from perfect.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Ortiz-Magro was arrested in Los Angeles in April for alleged domestic violence. He spent several hours behind bars before posting a $100,000 bond.
Immediately after the incident, Matos urged her social media followers to not believe the lies being published about her boyfriend's arrest, claiming everything was fine between them two.
A couple days later, however, it was revealed that Matos was the one who called the cops on the day in question. Law enforcement sources said when officers arrived at the scene, they observed Saffire with visible bruises on her body. Ronnie was interviewed and determined to be the aggressor.
The following month, a rep for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office announced that the reality star would not be charged for the arrest but could still be sentenced to jail time for violating his probation stemming from a previous domestic violence arrest dating back to 2019.
In that case, Ronnie reportedly chased around his ex, Jen, while holding a knife in one hand and their daughter, Ariana, in the other.
After arriving at the home, cops had to break down a bathroom door where the MTV star had locked himself inside of with his baby girl.
Oritz-Magro avoided being thrown in jail over the arrest but agreed to be put on a three-year probation. Per his deal, he pleaded no contest to one count of domestic battery and one count of resisting arrest, agreed to stay out of trouble, complete a 52-week domestic violence program and pay fines.
Days later, Ronnie announced he would be walking away from filming Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
"After talking to the team at MTV, we have mutually agreed that I will step away from the show while I seek treatment for mental health issues that I've ignored for too long," he explained on social media last month. "My number one goal now is facing my struggles head-on. This process will be difficult by my #1 priority is to get healthy and be the best man and the best father I can for my daughter."
Ronnie did not specify whether he would be entering a rehab facility or receiving out-patient treatment; however, he has been candid about his substance abuse struggles in the past.
In 2019, the self-proclaimed "guido" completed a 30-day stint in a rehab for issues related to alcohol abuse and depression.
Meanwhile, his baby mama has found herself in some legal trouble of her own.
On the same day Ronnie proposed to Saffire, Jen was arrested and taken to Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she was charged with domestic battery and assault with a deadly weapon.
