Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne was grilled about what she knew exactly when it came to her estranged husband’s alleged embezzlement and her story has people asking questions.
In last night’s episode, Jayne was asked about Thomas Girardi’s finances and the lawsuits surrounding them both. Garcelle Beauvais asked, "So his business was his business and yours was yours. Did you get an allowance? How did it work?"
She replied, "No, I didn't get an allowance.” Beauvais continued, "Did you share everything, like in terms of both on the house, finances?"
Jayne claimed everything was kept from her and controlled by her husband. She said most of her spending was put on credit cards and sometimes she’d get cash from her ex whenever she asked him.
She said, "It's not my business, it's not my law firm, I'm not a lawyer.”
The reality star also claimed she was unaware of Girardi’s many legal issues.
Jayne claimed, “Three years ago, he had a terrible, terrible head injury and there was a significant shift in his personality, decision making and who he is. There was severe decline.”
The statements Jayne made about her finances are interesting. She makes it seem like she would ask for a little money here and there from her husband.
However, the allegations in court documents are drastically different. As RadarOnline.com previously reported, earlier this year, Girardi’s creditors forced him into a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. They accuse him of refusing to pay up on millions he owed.
A large number of the creditors included the once-respected lawyer’s former clients. Many believed Girardi took money they were awarded in settlement and used it to fund his lavish lifestyle.
His clients say they were screwed out of tens of millions and want their money back. In one suit, the former clients, who lost loved ones in a plane crash, accuse Jayne of helping her husband embezzle millions.
A judge recently signed off on the clients being allowed to go after Jayne to try and collect.
As Girardi’s world started to crumble, Jayne rushed to divorce court after 21 years of marriage. She is demanding spousal support. However, the divorce is on hold until the bankruptcy is finished.
Recently, the trustee presiding over the bankruptcy sued Jayne for the return of $25 million her husband used to pay her bills for years. The Bravo star has yet to respond to the suit in court. The statements about grabbing a little money here and there don’t mesh with the alleged $25 million the trustee claims her company received.
