One of Donald Trump’s former lawyers, Jenna Ellis, broke down in tears this week as she pleaded guilty in the Georgia election interference case, RadarOnline.com can report.
She also appeared to throw the ex-president under the bus.
In the latest development to come after a Georgia grand jury indicted Trump and 18 additional co-defendants on charges connected to their alleged efforts to subvert the results of the state’s 2020 presidential election, Ellis pleaded guilty to one felony count on Tuesday morning.
According to Daily Mail, Ellis pleaded guilty to a count of aiding and abetting false statements and writings.
Ellis initially faced the more serious charges of violating Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and soliciting a violation of oath by a public officer, but those charges were reportedly dropped as part of the 38-year-old ex-Trump lawyer’s plea deal.
Even more surprising are reports that Ellis broke down in tears as she accepted the plea deal and blamed her actions on “more experienced” lawyers – such as Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell – who were also indicted in the case.
She also blamed Trump for her actions after the 2020 presidential election and said that “if I knew then what I know now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump.”
“I'm an attorney who is also a Christian,” she told the judge on Tuesday morning. “I take my responsibilities as a lawyer very seriously.”
“I relied on others, including lawyers with many more years of experience, to provide me with true and reliable information,” Ellis continued. “Especially since my role involves speaking to the media and to legislators in various states.
Ellis told the court that she felt “deep remorse” and she apologized to the people of Georgia for attempting to overturn the results of the state’s 2020 presidential election.
“In the wake of the 2020 presidential election, I believed that challenging the results on behalf of President Trump should be pursued in a just and legal way,” she said.
“If I knew then what I know now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post-election challenges,” Ellis added. “I look back on this whole experience with deep remorse.”

Prosecutors reportedly recommended several years of probation for Ellis, as well as $5,000 in restitution, a written apology letter to the citizens of Georgia, and 100 hours of community service.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Ellis was the fourth of Trump's 18 co-defendants to accept a plea deal in the Georgia election interference case so far.
Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro, who were both indicted by the Georgia grand jury alongside Trump and Ellis in August, also struck deals and pleaded guilty to lesser charges last week.
Powell pleaded guilty to conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, while Chesebro pleaded guilty to one felony charge of conspiracy to commit filing false documents.
