‘The Sharks Are Circling’: Jake Tapper & Brian Stelter Ready To Knife Embattled CNN Primetime Anchor Chris Cuomo

While Chris Cuomo’s future at CNN remains uncertain following the revelations that he was much more involved in helping his embattled brother, then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, several colleagues within the building are looking to replace him.
“While Brian Stelter is telling Chris that he has his back, behind the scenes Brian is actively lobbying for his job,” sources tell Radar.
“Brian knows his weekend show, Reliable Sources,’ doesn’t have the weight or the power of a daily primetime show. He thinks this is his chance to be part of the prestigious boys-club at CNN and is doing everything in his power to grab it.”
However, insiders say that it isn’t just the ambitious Stelter who is sucking up to the boss, Jake Tapper sees this as his chance too.
“There are only so many hours of real estate in prime-time. They almost never come up which is why Jake is being so aggressive now that Chris is vulnerable. Anderson (Cooper) has never been that close with Chris, but he already has one of the best timeslots, while Don (Lemon) loves Chris and would never try to push him out. But Jake is a different creature. Chris getting fired means only one thing to him, an opportunity to get himself in primetime.”

Sources add that Stelter has almost no chance of replacing Chris but that isn’t stopping him from trying. “Brian just doesn’t look like other people on TV.” Which is why Jake is the heir apparent.
“The sharks are circling Chris Cuomo at CNN,” adds a source. “They can smell blood in the water.”
Earlier today, CNN announced they were conducting an internal review of Chris' behavior. He is accused of using his media sources to find out who had damaging information on his brother Andrew.
