Chadwick Boseman’s Widow Buys His Parents Burial Spots Next To Late ‘Black Panther’ Star In South Carolina Cemetery
Chadwick Boseman’s widow dropped $22,000 to make sure the late actor’s parents are laid to rest next to their son.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Taylor Simone Ledward recently requested the court reimburse her $71,000 that she spent on his funeral.
The Black Panther actor passed away on August 28, 2020, after battling colon cancer for four years. He went through chemotherapy while still filming roles in major films right up until his passing.
Chadwick didn’t leave a will before he died. He did marry his longtime girlfriend Taylor months before. As a result, his widow was put in charge of handling his estate matters.
Taylor is required to submit accounting and receipts to the court. Her motion to be paid back the funeral costs was initially rejected.
She recently obtained a bunch of declarations from Chadwick’s friends and copies of invoices to prove where the money went. As part of her battle for the $71k, Taylor broke down the costs to the court.
She explained the venue cost $9,500, the funeral service cost around $10k and flowers were $1,275 alone. The next part is interesting.

The AP reported that Chadwick’s death certificate listed his burial place as the Welfare Baptist Church. However, the pastor at the church later came out saying the actor was not buried there.
It seems the mystery has finally been solved.
In the court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Taylor lists a $,7495 expense for a mausoleum crypt at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, South Carolina. Chadwick was born and raised in the city.
She paid out the money to a company named McDougald Funeral & Cremation Services. An additional $22,000 was spent to buy mausoleum crypts for Chadwick’s parents Leroy and Carolyn to be buried next to them.
As we first reported, Taylor is scheduled to appear in court this November. She will have to argue the case for her being paid back the money. The judge originally rejected the claim writing, "support for the claim is unclear based upon the partial payments, transferred account, and documents provided.”
