Britney Spears' Ex Sam Asghari Slammed For 'Tasteless' Photo Shoot Using Pop Star's Song Titles
Britney Spears' former love Sam Asghari is facing backlash over a recent magazine shoot, in which the outlet used lyrics from the pop star's hits to promote her soon-to-be ex-husband, RadarOnline.com can reveal. Die-hard Spears fans called Asghari's interview "tasteless," accusing him of being another person to use the singer.
Her most recent ex sat down with Interview magazine to discuss his favorite foods, his family, and his biggest insecurity: hint, it's his butt. Not once did Asghari mention Spears in the article — but the title and photos were obvious nods to his former flame.
Titling the story Sam Asghari Drives Them Crazy was not a coincidence. Of course, Spears released Drive Me Crazy in 1999, and it was an instant hit — with Melisssa Joan Hart even appearing in the diner-themed video.
Fans also noticed Asghari wore a t-shirt with the word "Lucky" on it. Spears dropped her song Lucky in 2000. Eagle-eyed followers also noted one photo in which he held a Coca-Cola can. The pop princess was famously a spokesperson for the soda brand's rival, Pepsi, back in the day.
His interview was also published on Monday — the day before Spears' book The Woman in Me was released.
Spears' loyal fans took to social media to air out their grievances, and they were ruthless.
"I’m sorry this is just tasteless…. An interview with a magazine the week Britney’s memoir is being released … with lyrics and song titles that are 100% associated with Britney? Just another person using Britney to get attention for themselves," one person wrote on X.

"This will be his gimmick for the rest of his life Being Britney’s ex," added another. "I hope Hollywood cancels this user…how disappointing," commented another.
However, a source close to Asghari told RadarOnline.com that the accusations are "not true," adding that Spears' fans are "wrong" about their assumptions.
Not everyone was angry angry though. Some people had his back.
"He wants to create controversy so we talk about him like we are doing now. Cleaver [sic] PR. That’s it," someone wrote. "I’m not defending him but the Britney quotes and the release of the interview are not in control of him, that’s something the magazine is in charge, he could say no to the “lucky” shirt but again the magazine is in charge of that," replied a second.
