Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez scoffed at Rep. Bryon Donalds bid to become the new House Speaker, RadarOnline.com has learned.
On Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez appeared for an interview with MSNBC’s Medhi Hasan. During the chat, the two discussed the current state of the house and the ongoing drama with the Republicans being unable to find a replacement for Kevin McCarthy.
For days, Rep. Jim Jordan attempted to convince enough members to vote for him before he threw in the towel once and for all last week.
Days later, Donalds announced he would be throwing his name in the running for speaker. Donalds, who has supported Trump in the past, said, “I look forward to securing the votes of a majority of my Republican colleagues to become the first African-American Speaker, the first Speaker from the great state of Florida, and the next Speaker of the 118th Congress.”
Ocasio-Cortez didn’t hold back when asked for her thoughts on Donalds.
She told Hasan, “He’s only served one term in the U.S. House of Representatives. The last thing that he did in the Oversight Committee was attempt to submit falsified evidence to an impeachment hearing.”
She added, ”I think it helps to know where all the bathrooms are before you run for the U.S. House of Representatives, personally, and I think it helps to have some real experience in one of most complex legislative bodies in the world before you try to run it.”
Last month, Ocasio-Cortez accused Donalds of using “fabricated” evidence during a hearing on Hunter Biden.
Donalds had submitted a 2018 text message sent by President Biden’s brother James to Joe’s son Hunter.
The text read, “This can work, you need a safe harbor. I can work with you father [sic] alone !! We as usual just need several months of his help for this to work.”
AOC argued that the text was presented without context and said the text did not show any sort of business deal. She accused Donalds of having “fabricated” the message.
CNN explained, “The contents of the purported James Biden text Donalds displayed were not made up, according to the IRS whistleblowers. What appeared to be novel was the graphic Donalds used; he showed the text in a form that made it look like a screenshot from an iPhone text conversation, with white words over a blue background bubble. The House Republican spreadsheet that the words were taken from did not include any such graphics, and, again, it did include the preceding purported Hunter Biden message that Donalds didn’t show.”
Donalds has yet to resond to AOC's interview.
