The man accused of killing Sarah Hyland’s teenage cousin in a horrific car crash has pleaded no contest to vehicular homicide, RadarOnline.com learned.

Jeffrey Eggeling appeared in court in Nebraska on July 2. A court official in Omaha, Nebraska confirmed to RadarOnline.com on Thursday that the 37-year-old man pleaded no contest to motor vehicle homicide and causing serious bodily injury by driving drunk.

As RadarOnline.com reported, the Bennington, Nebraska native was arrested and charged with two counts of DUI serious bodily injury and one count of leaving the scene of a personal injury collision on Dec. 1, 2018 after his vehicle struck another car operated by Hyland’s uncle. The crash took the life of the Modern Family star’s 14-year-old cousin Trevor Canaday.

As RadarOnline.com reported, Hyland was heartbroken when news broke of her cousin’s tragic passing. The actress took to Instagram and slammed Eggeling for taking a “14-year-old boy’s life.”

The actress – who recently got engaged to Bachelor star Wells Adams – claimed to her nearly 7 million followers that Eggeling “hit my Uncle’s car so fast my cousin (who was wearing a seatbelt) was ejected from the car.”
