Sarah Hyland’s worst nightmare came true over the weekend when her 14-year-old cousin was killed by an alleged drunk driver. Now, RadarOnline.com has exclusively obtained the suspected killer’s mugshot, along with sordid details of his criminal past involving multiple DUI charges.

Jeffrey Eggeling, 36, of Bennington, Nebraska was arrested and charged with two counts of DUI serious bodily injury and one count of leaving the scene of a personal injury collision. The victim was the Modern Family actress’s teenage cousin, Trevor Canaday. Trevor’s dad – Hyland’s uncle – was also transported to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries.

RadarOnline.com obtained Eggeling’s shocking mugshot, shown below, where the Nebraska resident appears with a smirk on his face.

According to the Omaha Police Department’s arrest report obtained by RadarOnline.com, Eggeling collided with a car driven by Hyland’s little cousin at 5:35 pm. on Sunday. The suspected drunk driver then “left the scene of the collision on foot” and was located “a short distance” nearby, documents stated.

According to the police report, Eggeling had “the odor of alcoholic beverage about his person as well as slurred speech.”

Cops on the scene reported that the alleged drunk driver failed a breathalyzer test by blowing a .103 blood alcohol content, above the .08 legal limit.

RadarOnline.com also uncovered sordid details from Eggeling’s past. The alleged drunk driver was arrested in Omaha in April 2016 after “showing signs of alcohol impairment,” according to a police complaint.

During the 2016 bust, Eggeling’s vehicle was spotted “weaving” and “sped off from the red light to speeds near 60 mph in a 35 zone,” a police complaint explained. Eggeling blew a .136 blood alcohol level. He was charged with careless driving and DUI.

Another Omaha police report obtained by RadarOnline.com from 2003 showed that Eggeling was charged with another DUI, along with improper turn and possession of drug paraphernalia. The 2003 arrest occurred after police observed Eggeling's vehicle "swerving in its own lane."

Officers conducted a field sobriety test, where Eggeling allegedly showed "signs of impairment" including "slurred speech and the smell of alcohol from the suspect," the report explained. Officers also found Eggeling in possession of a "drug pipe."

Hours following Sunday’s horrific crash, Hyland, 28, took to social media and provided a link to a GoFundMe page set up in her cousin’s honor.
