Cameron Boyce’s Heartbroken Father Breaks Silence On Actor's Tragic Death

Cameron Boyce’s heartbroken father, Victor Boyce, has broken his silence on the tragic death of his son.

Two days after the Disney actor died of a seizure in his sleep, Victor took to Twitter to update fans on the family’s status, and thank them for their kindness.

“I’m overwhelmed with the love and support our family has received. It really does help to ease the pain of this nightmare I can’t wake up from. I can’t thank you guys enough,” he wrote.

A family spokesperson told reporters in a statement that Cameron’s fatal seizure at age 20 was the result of a preexisting medical condition for which he was being treated.

Following news of his death, friends, costars, and fans, took to social media to voice their sadness. Disney Channels President and Chief Creative Officer Gary Marsh also spoke out.

In an email to his colleagues obtained by PEOPLE, he wrote “His generosity of spirit, his joyful embrace of all life has to offer, and his unwavering commitment to social justice were only a few of the traits that made us all fall in love with him… From Jessie, to Jake and the Neverland Pirates, to Gamer’s Guide, to his most recent work on Descendants, Cameron has been a humble and hilarious presence in our lives — and the lives of tens of millions of kids — for nearly half of his 20 years.”

Cameron is survived by dad Victor, mom Libby, and sister Maya.
