Beverly Hills 90210 has a new resident moving in! RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal Tori Spelling's husband Dean McDermott is joining the reboot. The new show, and payday, could not come sooner for Spelling and her husband.
The latest version of the 90’s hit debuts in August.
The new dramedy — called BH90210 and starring original cast members Tori, Gabrielle Carteris, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, and Ian Ziering — imagines what would happen if the actors got together to make a revival of Beverly Hills, 90210.
“Basically, it’s satirical,” a source told RadarOnline.com. “Their characters in the script are very over the top — like the tabloid versions of themselves. They take on their personas in the press — Shannon as a mega diva, Tori and Dean are fighting and broke. They are making fun of themselves. We’ll see their characters grappling with doing a 'reboot'"
Fox describes the six-episode series as “taking the concept of a series reboot to a whole new meta-level.”
“When the cast gets back together, it will come with a big twist: the seven former teen idols will be playing heightened versions of themselves in the brand-new serialized drama – with a healthy dose of irreverence – that is inspired by their real lives and relationships with each other,” the official network press release states.
McDermott is listed in the script as a co-star. Spelling's family members will make cameos as well.
"That includes Candy Spelling,” the source revealed. “As well as Tori’s brother Randy and their real-life friends, as well as a former exec from Spelling Productions and former co-stars throughout the years.”
One big challenge ahead of the new show will be how to acknowledge the sudden and shocking passage of Luke Perry, who died March 4 after suffering a massive stroke.
"They will acknowledge Luke Perry’s passing in some way since he will not be in the reboot," the insider said.
The reboot couldn’t have come at a better time for the couple.
Spelling, 45, and McDermott, 52, were sued by City National Bank for failing to pay back a $400,000 loan given to them in 2010.
City National Bank accused them of “owing plaintiff an unpaid principle balance in the amount of $185,714.05, plus interest in the amount of $2,407.92 and late charges in the amount of $681.41, for a total of $188,803.38.”
They also requested the $17,149.09 Spelling withdrew in September 2016.
The mother-of-five racked up $40,280 interest for failing to pay. McDermott an additional $37,029 to pay.
A bench warrant was issued when she failed to appear in court. It was dissolved when the parties agreed to discuss the case in a meeting set for May 10.
BH90210 will premiere Wednesday, Aug. 7 on Fox.
