Meghan Markle Named Royal Baby Archie After Dead Cat, Friends Claim

Meghan Markle’s friends are claiming that royal baby Archie was not named after one of Princess Diana’s ancestors after all.
According to The Sun, Prince Harry’s wife named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor after her former cat.
Pals of the Duchess of Sussex told the UK outlet that her mom, Doria Ragland, rescued a cat named Archie years ago and that he was an “important” member of the family.
“Meghan loved playing with him and she was always talking about him to her friends. It’s no surprise she named her new baby Archie. She loved that cat,” the friends claimed.
The feline reportedly died while Meghan was in college.
Meghan’s pals insisted she may have also settled on the name Archie as a nod to her estranged father Thomas Markle. Her friends claimed that the father-daughter duo had a tradition of collecting the famous comic Archie, which is about a red-head character named Archie Andrews.
“She would spend her weekends going to vintage stores to buy the comics,” friends claimed.
As RadarOnline.com readers know, Prince Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, welcomed their first child on May 6.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex debuted the new addition to the Royal Family on Wednesday, May 8, at Windsor Castle.
Initial reports linked Archie Harrison’s name as a nod to Princess Diana’s Scottish ancestor, Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll.
Harrison also means “son of Harry,” while Mountbatten-Windsor is reportedly is in honor of the surname Prince Philip adopted when he became a British citizen ahead of his engagement to Queen Elizabeth.

As RadarOnline.com readers know, Thomas Markle was not present for the royal baby’s birth due to their strained relationship that began during her engagement to Harry.
Thomas was also axed from attending the royals’ wedding in 2018. He has yet to meet his grandchild.
Meghan’s mom, Doria, however, was not only in attendance of the nuptials – but also appeared alongside the newborn, Meghan, Harry and Prince Phillip and the Queen in a touching photograph released on Wednesday on the couple’s Instagram account.
