Larry King has been released from the hospital following his heart surgery, has exclusively learned.

This Monday, April 29, a eyewitness saw the longtime television and radio host, 85, being wheeled out of the hospital and escorted to his car by two police officers and some other people. Once he arrived, he stood up from the wheelchair and jumped into the car seat himself.

King’s release came hours after news broke of his sudden hospitalization. As readers know, underwent surgery last Thursday, April 25 after suffering angina, a type of chest pain that reduces blood flow.

“He did not have a heart attack and he did not go into cardiac arrest,” his team wrote in a Twitter statement, adding that the surgery went well and then star was “in good spirits.”

They added that the host — who recently beat lung cancer — would recover and hop back onstage as soon as possible.

“His doctor successfully performed the angioplasty and inserted stents to reopen the previous bypass from 1987,” the statement read. “He has been recuperating in the hospital and is scheduled to be released soon.”
