Kate Spade sent a touching note to one of her friends just days before her shocking suicide, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.
Before her June 5, 2018 passing, the fashion designer was in the process of submitting a short story to be included in Bridget Moynahan and Amanda Benchley’s new book, Our Shoes, Our Selves: 40 Women, 40 Stories, 40 Pair of Shoes.
The late fashion icon was given an In Memoriam page, where Benchley shared the kind words she received from Spade just one week before her death.
“Not only was Kate Spade an original participant in this project, but she was also one of its strongest supporters,” Benchley wrote. “In fact, a week before she died, she sent me an email about scheduling her portrait session. She wrote: ‘I am so proud of your book! Good job!’”
Benchley added that Spade “laughed all the time.”
“She loved beauty and whimsy and fun and her friends,” the co-author wrote.
As RadarOnline.com reported, a New York Medical Examiner ruled the fashion designer’s cause and manner of death a suicide by hanging.
The famed designer hanged herself with a scarf tied to a doorknob in her Manhattan home.
In a tragic turn of events, Spade’s father also died just hours before the family planned to lay her to rest.
