Accused Sex Abuser R. Kelly Is Arrested For Not Paying Child Support
March 6 2019, Updated 11:30 p.m. ET
R. Kelly is back behind bars for the second time in two weeks – this time for failing to pay over $160k in child support, RadarOnline.com has confirmed.
The rapper had been ordered to pay his ex-wife Drea Kelly, at least $161k by today, but he didn't.
Joe Ryan, spokesman for the Cook County Sheriff’s Office in Chicago, told RadarOnline.com that deputies arrested R.Kelly shortly after the custody hearing today. “He will be transferred to jail at some point today,” Ryan said.
R. Kelly previously turned himself in to police on February 22, 2019 after being charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse of four victims, at least three between the ages of 13 and 17.
In that case, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx announced the charges against the star, which followed years of rumors and allegations that Kelly, now 52, has abused women and underage girls.
One of the top-selling recording artists of all time, Kelly has won multiple Grammys, but rumors have flown about his alleged criminal mistreatment of underage girls and supposed video tape of his acts.
The R&B singer has continuously denied any wrongdoing despite the fact that multiple victims and their parents have come forward.
The January 2019 Lifetime docuseries Surviving R. Kelly, in which women alleged they'd been victims of his sex cult, intensified the campaign against him.
Now, the singer is in big trouble on another matter--over allegedly not paying child support.
“His financial situation is probably a new low for any celebrity,” a friend of Kelly’s told RadarOnline.com, noting that he still plans on suing the people behind Surviving R. Kelly, the six part special that aired on Lifetime, sparking a media firestorm overnight. The rapper also intends on taking the network to court.

As RadarOnline.com readers know, Kelly was released from jail last week after spending three days behind bars for failing to post $100k bail.
The next court date for his criminal trial is March 26.
Kelly's lawyer Steve Greenberg has previously said his client is innocent of the sex charges, "I think all the women are lying. Mr. Kelly is strong, he's got a lot of support and he's going to be vindicated on all these charges -- one by one if it has to be."
