Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez is back to being a convicted murder.

Two years after committing suicide in prison, the Massachusetts Supreme Court Judicial Court came to a unanimous decision and tossed the principle that erased Hernandez’s conviction.

The rule, which held that a convicted defendant who dies before an appeal is heard should not be considered guilty, is now being called “outdated and no longer consonant with the circumstances of contemporary life,” following an appeal.

As a result, Hernandez’s conviction has been reinstated. The court records will show that he died before an appeal was heard.

“We are pleased justice is served in this case, the antiquated practice of vacating a valid conviction is being eliminated and the victim's family can get the closure they deserve,” Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III tweeted.

Readers know that Hernandez, 27, was found hanged in his prison cell while serving time for the murder of his friend Odin Lloyd.

As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, Hernandez was placed on 24- hour suicide watch minutes after being taken to jail on June 28, 2013, four years before he actually took his life.
