Moments after murdering his friend Odin Lloyd, New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez called his fiancé, Shayanna Jenkins and made an unusual request.

The convicted killer told her to rush down to the basement of their home and dispose of a box he’d hid there, hours prior. He reportedly did not tell her what was in it, and she got rid of it as asked.

Prosecutors later argued that Hernandez’s murder weapon was in the box, and Jenkins helped dispose of it. She eventually came clean about her actions, saying she threw the box away because she was instructed to. She also confessed she had seen a gun inside the house. Despite her involvement in the crime, Jenkins was granted immunity in exchange for her testimony.

REELZ’s new docuseries, Murder Made Me Famous: Aaron Hernandez, looks back at the collection of evidence police found in Odin Lloyd’s murder and the messy crime scene Aaron Hernandez left after the homicide.

“One of the investigating officers couldn’t believe the stupidity of this crime,” says Murder Me Famous' Steve Helling in the new show teaser. “Odin Lloyd still had his wallet, his phone, and keys to a car that had been rented by Aaron Hernandez.”

“What’s more, this whole thing went down less than a mile from Aaron Hernandez’s home,” adds Helling.

Investigators also found surveillance footage that captured many of the events of June 16 and 17 of 2013 — the days Hernandez spent time with Lloyd before brutally killing him.

“You had so much evidence putting these men together — it was all captured on video!” says legal reporter, Maria Cramer, in the clip.
