The human remains found off of an interstate in Colorado on Sunday are not missing mother Kelsey Berreth, RadarOnline.com can report.
On January 6, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation announced in a press release that citizens spotted human remains in the town of Aguilar, Colorado at around 3 p.m.
The residents stumbled upon the remains while “walking in the area near a closed truck stop at exit 34 on Interstate 25” when they discovered the remains, the release stated.
The discovery prompted many to believe the remains belonged to Berreth, 29, who has been missing since November 22. An autopsy was completed on Tuesday, Jan. 8. CBI public information officer Susan Medina confirmed to RadarOnline.com, "The remains are not Kelsey Berreth.”
An official at the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office, who responded to the scene on Sunday, told RadarOnline.com that investigators are now “checking into some other missing persons cases out of the state.”
The news is likely to bring more heartbreak to the Berreth family, who continue to fear for her life.
Berreth’s cousin Jodie Garretson previously told RadarOnline.com, “We kept hoping and praying that Kelsey would be found okay.”
As RadarOnline.com readers know, Kelsey was last seen on Thanksgiving Day entering a supermarket with her daughter, whom she shares with fiancé Patrick Frazee.
Frazee was arrested and charged with five counts of murder, including accusations that the fiancé plotted to rob Berreth and hire a hitman to murder her.
The two share a one-year-old daughter, who is currently in the custody of Berreth’s parents.
