Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino has officially checked into Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in New York to serve an 8-month sentence on tax evasion charges, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons exclusively confirmed to RadarOnline.com that Sorrentino, 36, is in their custody.
The Jersey Shore star was sentenced to 8 months in federal prison on tax evasion charges in October. He will have 24 months of supervised release and 500 hours of community service when he's out.
His brother Marc was sentenced to two years in prison.
Before checking in, Sitch said goodbye to his fans in a somber Instagram live video.
"I want to put this behind me and move forward," he said in the video, filmed by wife Lauren Pesce. "The comeback is always greater than the setback."
He added, "The Situation will reveal himself in 2019. Currently under construction, but will be revealed. Under new management now."
He ended the video with, "There is nothing more to say. Just take me to jail."
Federal prison consultant Dan Wise exclusively told RadarOnline.com Sorrentino will have an easy time in the minimum-security facility.
"It will be very unlikely that he will ever see any type of violence while serving his very relaxed prison sentence," he told RadarOnline.com. "With his MTV status, it is more likely inmates will see him as a star, which will make his time very easy!"
