The show has announced the replacements for Megyn Kelly, 48, but have said nothing about Gifford, 65, and it has left Bush, 37, furious!
"Bush is pushing Hoda to put pressure on the bosses to give her the job," the informant revealed exclusively to Radar. "Bush is also very close with Savannah Guthrie and cannot understand why she doesn’t have this job yet."
Meanwhile, the informant said the problem is many top executives "think they can do better" than Bush.
Added the insider: "Basically, Jenna will get the job if they can’t find anyone better."
As Radar readers know, an emotional Gifford stunned fans when she announced her departure from the TODAY show earlier this month. But after the dust settled, sources told Radar exclusively the talking head actually got dumped by the network.
After having her at NBC for 11 whole years, network execs grew tired of Gifford and were anxious to replace her with a younger host, the insider claimed.
“Executives at TODAY have quietly been looking for a replacement for Kathie Lee. NBC wants younger viewers, and at 65, she’s long in the tooth,” the source told Radar this November.
“They want someone who can be a female counterpart to Craig Melvin, who isn’t even 40 yet,” the insider added at the time.
