Artie Lange is back behind bars after he again tested positive for drugs.

“He knows he’s got a problem," attorney Frank Arleo said of his client violating the terms of his probation. “He knows he shouldn’t have tested dirty yesterday, but he did. He knew what was going to happen.”

On January 30, Lange “was entered into Drug Court in Essex County yesterday and remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark when he tested positive for cocaine and morphine,” Public Information Officer Katherine Carter told RadarOnline.com.

He was then booked into the Essex County Jail, where he posed for a disturbing mugshot that showed he was suffering from what appeared to be a bloody nose.

As RadarOnline.com perviously reported, one insider close to Lange feared the former Howard Stern Show star was in “self-destruction mode” and could die if he didn’t manage to clean up his act.

Before his latest drug test came back dirty, Lange, 50, was supposed to be heading to an inpatient long-term treatment program.

“At this stage, the next step will be for him to be evaluated for a drug court approved treatment program,” said Carter. “In the interim, he will remain in custody in Essex County.”

But Lange’s Twitter account claimed he was “not arrested and sent to jail.”

“They are holding him for a few days to sober up before transferring him to a long term treatment facility, Artie needs us to be with him, not against him," the tweet read.
