TV’s Maury uses lie detectors, decoys and snitches to expose cheating love rats — and one person who would fail those tests would be the show’s host, Maury Povich!
That’s because the daytime veteran has admitted he two-timed wife Connie Chung before they were married.
“Maury has told friends that he cheated on Connie almost the entire time they dated!” an insider told RadarOnline.com.
According to the source, Povich — who’s hosted his TV show since 1991 — revealed that he was afraid to commit to Chung when his 17-year marriage to first wife Phyllis Minkoff hit the skids in 1979.
“Maury was still licking his wounds when he began dating Connie a few months later,” the insider said.
They’d been dating for several months when Povich’s divorce was finalized, but the father of two refused to stop seeing other women.
“While he started to realize he loved Connie, Maury didn’t want to be tied down to one woman, and adopted a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy for the next few years,” the source revealed.
“Finally, Connie became fed up. When she turned 38, she gave Maury an ultimatum: marry her — or else!” added the source.
It was only then that Povich knew he had to put his dating days behind him, according to the insider.
The couple tied the knot in 1984 and later adopted a son. Today Povich — who turns 80 in January — and 72-year-old Emmy-winning newswoman Connie remain happily married.
“Now Maury swears that once he walked Connie down the aisle, his cheating days were behind him!” said the source.
