Matt Lauer Appeared 'Rail Thin,' 'Sickly' While Dining Alone In NY: 'He Looked Like Absolute Hell!'

Matt Lauer looked "rail thin" and "sickly" while dining alone on a Saturday night one year after he was fired from 'Today' in disgrace, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.

An onlooker told RadarOnline.com the unemployed 60-year-old had dinner solo at Tutto il Giorno in Sag Harbor, New York at 6:30 pm on December 8 — and his appearance shocked fellow diners.

"Matt looked like absolute hell," the eyewitness claimed. "He was rail thin, white as a sheet, and has lost all of his hair. He looked very sick and rundown."

Lauer, who sources say may pay ex Anne Roque up to $20 million in their ongoing divorce, kept to himself while the eatery's owner Gabby Karan De Felice hosted a holiday cocktail party at the Urban Boutique within the restaurant.

"He tucked himself into the back of the bar alone while the main dining room was buzzing with holiday celebrations," the onlooker said, adding that he ignored another famous TV star just feet away.

"Joy Behar and her husband were also dining at Tutto il Giorno at the same time, but I didn't see Matt interact with her at all. He kept his head down and looked like he was trying to avoid conversation with anybody."

The onlooker was shocked by how much Lauer has changed in the one year since he left TV news.

"I was completely startled by how thin and sickly he is now...There have been talks about how he's trying for a comeback, but he would never be able to be on television now with the way he looks," the eyewitness said. "It would shock the public. It's really awful because he's clearly not taking good care of himself."

In photos taken in October, a glum Lauer bundled up for the cold, and donned a hat while mowing his lawn.

RadarOnline.com previously reported, Lauer has given up on his TV comeback dreams, and plans to retreat to his New Zealand estate to work as a rancher.
