Authorities are gathering up to 2,000 volunteers in Barron County, Wisconsin, to search for Jayme Closs, the 13-year-old girl who vanished after her parents were gunned down in an apparent home invasion almost two weeks ago, RadarOnline.com can confirm.

“Once again, we are requesting the public’s assistance,” Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said in a news release. “Two thousand volunteers are needed and should report to the staging area.”

The search kicked off at The Hungry Hollow Grounds at 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning, Oct. 22.

“Once we have 2,000 able-bodied volunteers, we will need to turn additional people away,” Sheriff Fitzgerald said.

Elizabeth Smart, who was abducted by a couple, tortured, raped and held hostage for nine months in 2002, took to Instagram over the weekend, urging people to repost Closs’ photo and report any information they may have to authorities.

The massive 2,000-person effort will mark one of the largest searches for a missing person to gather in one area.

RadarOnline.com broke the news that the FBI joined local and state forces to search for the young teen.

“The perpetrator went in, pulled out a gun and shot both parents — killing them, execution style. The person then kidnapped their daughter,” a source close to the Close investigation told RadarOnline.com. “For the perpetrator, turn yourself in now. Every second you are out there, you are only making this worse for yourself, and worse for this child. This is now a double homicide and abduction case. Local, state and federal authorities will not give up until we solve this case.”
