Shannen Doherty is no longer charmed with just being a television star, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
“Shannen’s decided to quit acting for a career behind the camera,” an insider claimed. “She’s already had some producing and directing credits over the years but now she’s going all out.
Doherty, 47, is currently in remission after suffering and surviving breast cancer. But as her health continues to improve, and her strength returns, the Beverly Hills 90210 star is anxious to start her next chapter.
“Overcoming cancer has given her a new lease on life and she can’t wait to prove herself as a behind-the-scenes player,” the insider admitted. “She has loads of ideas and a real fire in her belly.”
Doherty, who recently filmed a short stint on the upcoming tv adaption of her film Heathers, does have some experience behind the camera, having already directed three episodes of her former witchcraft drama Charmed.
Now she’s hoping to expand on that training by tackling other projects.
“Shannen is a very sophisticated thinker and sees that right now female directors and producers are in demand,” the insider added. “She’s setting up meetings and hoping to be handed something worthwhile to do.”
