Troubled actress Mischa Barton is getting a chance to reinvent herself after years of setbacks and scandals.
RadarOnline.com can confirm Barton, 32, will join the cast of The Hills reboot, which is set to premiere in 2019.
Barton will star alongside most of the original cast, as well as their children, friends and some new faces.
Confirmed stars include Heidi and Spencer Pratt, Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Jason Wahler, Stephanie Pratt, Justin Bobby and Frankie Delgado.
Barton quickly rose to fame At 17 for her starring role on The O.C., which premiered in 2003 and became a cult phenomenon almost overnight. The FOX hit series inspired MTV’s reality show Laguna Beach, which eventually spun off into The Hills.
The new gig will offer the actress a chance at finally reinventing herself.
The troubled actress' career has been on the skids since her stint on The O.C. ended in 2007.
Since then she's faced a slew of setbacks. In June 2017, she was forced to drag ex Jon Zacharias to court to ban him from circulating their sex tape.
In the same year, Barton was rushed to the hospital for a mental evaluation after cops were called to her West Hollywood home.
The 31-year-old actress was reportedly spotted in her backyard hanging over the fence, babbling about her mother and spitting out “incoherent statements.”
Barton claimed her meltdown started after she was given the date rape drug GHB. But as RadarOnline.com has reported, those close to Barton suggest her personal demons run deep.
But that incident was just one of many.
A pal close to Barton told RadarOnline.com last year Barton was allegedly caught doing mushrooms at a dinner party in recent years. "It wasn't the kind you eat either. Who does shrooms at a dinner party?” the insider revealed.
Then, just two weeks later, the source revealed Barton was at a bar in NYC smoking pot and doing coke. "She was openly using her hand to snort coke off of in this tiny space," the snitch claimed.
Sources told RadarOnline.com at the time “Mischa has been on this downward spiral for years now."
An insider told RadarOnline.com exclusively, “Her attempts at getting healthy have always failed. She took on Dancing With The Stars to make some money and try to clean up her act — but that didn’t help.”
