Happy news for George W. Bush!
This Sunday, the former U.S. president’s daughter, Barbara Bush, tied the knot in an intimate and gorgeous wedding, RadarOnline.com has learned. The romantic ceremony took place at the family’s compound in Kennebunkport, Maine, where only 20 family members witnessed her and Craig Coyne say “I do.”
Barbra, 36, wore an ivory silk crepe Vera Wang custom gown and was escorted by her grandfather, George H.W. Bush, 94, and walked down the aisle by her father, according to a statement from George W. Bush’s office.
Newlywed Barbara told PEOPLE it was “a very short, sweet ceremony.”
According to the publication, Barbara’s mother, Laura Bush, 71, was also in attendance, as was her twin sister, Jenna Bush Hager, 36, who acted as matron of honor.
Jenna’s daughters, Margaret, 5, and Poppy, 3, were flower girls, as was Craig’s 5-year-old niece, Emma. It was such a family affair, in fact, that Poppy also served as the ring bearer! Meanwhile, Barbara’s aunt, Dorothy Bush Koch, officiated the ceremony.
The happy ceremony came just seven months after the bride’s beloved grandmother, Barbara Bush, 92, passed away.
However, the beauty made sure to keep the memory of her namesake alive by including her in the wedding.
While walking down the aisle, the beauty wore a beautiful bracelet that George senior gave to the former First Lady on their 70th anniversary. It became her “something borrowed.”
“I’m wearing is this bracelet that my grandfather gave to my grandmother on their 70th anniversary,” Barbara told PEOPLE, adding that her “something blue” was a delicate pair of earrings from her sister.
Congratulations Barbara Bush!
