'Star Trek' Feud: William Shatner Slams Leonard Nimoy For Ignoring Him Before Death
William Shatner still has no idea why he and his Star Trek co-star, Leonard Nimoy, stopped being friends, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Shatner, 87, revealed never-before-heard details of his bitter feud with Nimoy, who became famous for playing the human-alien character known as Spock on the iconic show. Shatner revealed their irreparable friendship still haunts him years after Nimoy’s death in 2015.
Shatner slammed his late frenemy for failing to pick up his phone calls in his later years.
“I would call him and he wouldn’t answer the phone or return any messages,” Shatner wrote.
As RadarOnline.com readers know, Shatner was shunned for skipping Nimoy's funeral. Nimoy passed away after battling end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Now, Shatner confessed the real reason he skipped out on Nimoy’s services.
“I loved Leonard, and he used to refer to me as his brother. Yet at the end of his life and for reasons I still don’t know, he was not my friend,” Shatner wrote. He died and I didn’t feel welcome at his funeral.”
Shatner admitted he still struggles with not knowing what his friend was so angry about.
“After all the years we had spent together, after the bond we had forged, what could I have done that was so irreparable that he couldn’t even talk to me about it?” Shatner asked.
Despite the severed friendship, Shatner recalled his memories of Nimoy on- and off-camera – and revealed his quirky habits!
“While we were filming, Leonard had remained distant, aloof,” Shatner wrote.
He also revealed that Nimoy “found it necessary” to remain in character as Spock all day, even when cameras weren’t rolling.
“The irony of that, of course was that he spent all that time preparing to portray a character who suppressed emotions,” Shatner slammed his friend.

Another tragic event that caused Shatner pain was the tragic drowning of his alcoholic wife, Nerine Kidd. The actor confessed he had suicidal thoughts after her death.
