CNN's political commentator Van Jones' wife has filed for a divorce.

Jana Carter, who is an attorney and the niece of former president Jimmy Carter, lodged paperwork in Los Angeles County Court on Friday.

The couple married in 2005 and they separated back in May – they have two sons.

Jana is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the kids, who are minors plus spousal support.

The couple released a statement, it read: "Though we have decided to end our marriage, we still love each other very much.

"We will continue raising our kids together, running our businesses together and supporting each other's growth."

And it seems that there is no bad feelings between them as they move forward.
