‘Extremely Vain’ Tom Cruise Demanded Hotel Staff ‘Walk Into His Room Backwards’

An insider exclusively revealed to RadarOnline.com that Tom Cruise ordered staff to “walk into his room backwards” when he was laid up with a broken ankle!

The pint-sized star gave staff at the luxury Corinthia Hotel London a massive headache with his diva demand, which he made because he couldn’t stand people seeing proof Scientology’s “healing power” is a fairytale, claimed a source.

As RadarOnline.com reported, Cruise, who turned 56 in July, was left unable to walk while staying at the five-star property after he suffered a string of injuries filming the latest Mission Impossible — including a broken ankle that is still causing him pain.

But since the actor is convinced his beloved Scientology cult has a miraculous healing power, he refused to allow the Corinthia’s team of butlers, cleaners and chefs to see him temporarily crippled.

“Everyone knows Tom is out there when it comes to his beliefs, especially in Scientology,” the source said.

But ordering people to walk backwards because he didn’t want them to see evidence that Scientologists’ claims of possessing miraculous power to cure injuries wasn’t up to snuff “is his craziest move yet,” noted the source. “He really annoyed staff at Claridge’s, and not only because asking someone not to look you in the eye is an insult.”

The insider added Cruise’s demand was also a result of the “extremely vain” actor’s dislike of people seeing him when he is ill and not in top physical condition.

Cruise’s ankle took weeks to heal even though he splashed millions of dollars bringing a medical entourage — including Scientology healers — to the Corinthia after his injury.

According to the insider, the Top Gun star usually takes an entire floor of at the luxury hotel when staying in London for him and his team.

But he reserved almost two floors for his handpicked medical entourage after he shattered his ankle more than 12 months ago performing a stunt for his latest outing as spy Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible Fallout.

He also flew out a senior Scientology shaman trained in the cult’s ‘Assist’ procedures, which purportedly heal injuries and even bring the dead back to life.

“Tom was ashamed that even with that lot treating him, he still wasn’t up and about,” the source said. “He genuinely thinks Scientology can work miracles.”
