Roseanne Slams Valerie Jarrett AGAIN In First Interview After Racist Twitter Scandal
Roseanne Barr did not hold back when speaking of her show firing and Twitter scandal this Thursday at Fox News. Talking to Sean Hannity in an interview, the shamed actress apologized for her racist remark against former Obama staffer Valerie Jarrett—and then insulted her again!
“She's gotta get a new haircut,” Barr, 65, said. “I mean, seriously, she needs a new haircut.”
She then defended herself once more, saying that her tweet was meant to be political not racist.
“Her skin tone is like mine. I'm brown,” Barr said. “I didn't know she was African-American, I assumed she was from Iran.”
RadarOnline.com readers know, Barr sparked controversy when she compared Jarrett to an ape. In her interview, however, the former Roseanne star said that her comment was actually about defending Israel and bashing Jarrett for the 2015 Iran deal.
“That is a tweet about asking for accountability from the previous administration about the Iran deal, which Valerie Jarrett is the author of. That was in my head,” she said to a skeptical Hannity.
Barr continued by saying that being called a racist “is like the worst thing you could call a Jewish person, especially one like me who grew up with Holocaust survivors.”
“That was a hard one to take,” she admitted.
Barr also said that she was “going through a very hard time” when she sent the tweet, suggesting that her former show staff was so against her political values that it didn’t allow her to do her work.
“How would you like to be sitting with 25 people who think Trump is the worst thing that happened to the United States?” she asked Hannity. “How would you like it, could you do your job?”
“It happens to me every day. A lot of people don't like what I have to say,” replied Hannity.
After much convincing by Hannity, Barr finally said what she’d like Jarrett to know following the scandal.
“I would say this: ‘Valerie, let's discuss this. 'Don't assume that you know what I meant because I think you don't know what I meant. I would like to make it clearer to you what I did mean and I would like to... find common ground between us.'”
She added that despite everyone thinking she’s a racist, she knows who she is and she knows she’s a person who cares about civil rights, after all, she lives “on an island that is all brown people.”
“I reject what you call me. You call me racist. I don't accept it. I know who I am. I am not a racist. The people who voted for Trump, they're not racists either. Trump is not a racist,” added Barr.
The actress also claimed that after her Tweet sparked controversy, she asked ABC to let her go on The View and other shows to explain herself and apologize, but they didn’t let her.
Now, the cast of Roseanne is filming a reboot of her hit ABC show—and she’s not invited!
