Actor Casper Van Dien's Son Fighting For Life After Hanging Himself – Details
Actor Casper Van Dien's son has reportedly hung himself during a stay at a Solvang medical facility.
Casper Van Dien 23, – who is screen icon Robert Mitchum's great grandson – reportedly tried to take his own life while being treated at a psych ward.
His mother Carrie Mitchum released a message on social media that read: "My son hung himself. He is unresponsive now and not breathing well. We don't know if he will make it."
His father is former Beverly Hills 90210 and Starship Troopers star Caper Van Dien, 49, who was married to Mitchum between 1993 and 1997 before marrying actress Catherine Oxenberg.
The couple had two children, Casper and Caroline. It is understood their son was working in a restaurant in Solvang close to where his mother was also a chef.
He had been employed as a dishwasher – friends and family called him "Cappy" or "Bo" Van Dien.

However, it is understood that he had been suffering from mental health issues in recent times.
A source has told RadarOnline.com that he had become despondent after a girlfriend had dumped him recently and was also estranged from his famous father.
His mother Carrie revealed on Facebook on June 23, 2018, that her son was having problems.
She wrote: "This has been a very difficult day, Being the mother of a suicidal addict is terrifying, frustrating, enraging and sorrowful. Thank you for all your suggestions and support. I'm sorry if I have not gotten back to you directly. Balancing this, with the move and a happy 16 year-old that needs rides and attention has left me emotionally bankrupt."
Carrie Mitchum was previously an actress on the soap The Bold And The Beautiful.
