Dissing Dad Matt? Jacob Roloff Raves About Other 'Father Figure' In New Book
Has Jacob Roloff's family feud been reignited?
After making up with his parents, the 21-year-old appears to snub his father Matt in his new tell-all book Out To See, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Though he didn't mention the Little People, Big World patriarch at all, Jacob raved over his "mentor" and "father figure" Mike Detjen, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.
Jacob said he met Mike as a young boy through his soccer club in his Oregon hometown.
"I appreciate Mike's influence on me a lot," he wrote.
When his mom Amy was too busy to drop Jacob off to his soccer games, Mike would be the one to do it — not his father Matt.
"Some took place hours away, and he would get me reading Popular Mechanics and Popular Science out loud during the long drive," Jacob recalled. "I expanded my mind and learned new words from the writing inside those magazines, and even things I didn't fully understand helped me later as a writer and reader."
"I find reasons all the time to credit these habits, of reading the Populars and playing strategy games, as being major influences on my mental development. In other words, what I already know about Mike's influence on me I find reaffirmed often."
Tragically, Mike passed away due to "cardiovascular complications" in 2008.
"I think I was in fifth grade at the time and I remember every detail of the morning my mom came to my room to tell me that Mike had not made it through his surgery," Jacob revealed. "I don't remember the days afterward very well—only that I skipped school for a few days and was likely very foul to anyone around me. I cried often."
While Jacob spoke of his relationship with Mike and noted other relationships, including his mother, brothers, and sister, his father Matt was noticeably absent from the book.
In addition to the snub, Jacob is not following his dad on Instagram.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Jacob has been an outspoken critic of his family and their show, which he quit in 2014. After a few icy years, the Roloff rebel and his parents eventually mended their relationship.
