Jackson Family Patriarch Joe Jackson Dead At 89

Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, has passed away at age 89, RadarOnline.com can confirm.

“The cause of death was cancer," a source close to the Jackson family told RadarOnline.com. "He had home nursing care and things took a turn for the worse. The family wanted to rush him to the hospital, but it was too late."

The source added, "The family is hysterical right now.”

The National ENQUIRER was the first to report that he was diagnosed with aggressive colon cancer in December 2017.

“They found a tumor,” a source told the publication. “Joe finally broke down and told his wife, Katherine, who filled in the kids. He says he’s strong, but he doesn’t have long because the cancer has been very aggressive.”

Joe has also had a number of health problems through the years that include a blood clot in his leg, three heart attacks and a stroke, NEQ reported.

The death comes two days after the anniversary of his son Michael's death in 2009.

Joe was born on July 26, 1928. He married Katherine in 1949 and together they had 10 children.

Joe shot to fame when he created the group the Jackson 5 with his sons Michael, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon in the 1960s.

His other children included Randy, Rebbie, LaToya and Janet, as well as an infant son Brandon who died just after birth.

Joe spearheaded his children’s careers, first getting the Jackson 5 signed to Motown Records and then catapulting Michael into international fame.

But his dark side was revealed when Michael accused his father of beating him throughout his life, a sentiment the other children echoed.

Joe also had an illegitimate child, a daughter Joh’Vonnie, with a woman he had an affair with in 1974.

He and Kathryn never divorced, but he moved to Las Vegas and they lived separate lives.
