HBO’s The Ringer host Bill Simmons was granted a restraining order on Friday, June 8 against one of his former employees, claiming he threatened him and others according to documents obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com.
According to the affidavit obtained by Radar, Simmons is asking a judge to order former employee to stay away from Bill Simmons Media Group office in Los Angeles. Simmons also asked the judge to order the man to stay at least 100 yards away from him and approximately 100 employees, contracted employees and guest stars.
Former ESPN star Simmons also asked the court to include his wife Kari, and children Zoe, 13, and Ben, 10, in the protective order.
The document said the employee was terminated on April 25, 2018 for performance issues and Simmons and the other employees became increasingly concerned over him’ “erratic actions and behaviors in the last few days.”
The employee has allegedly tried to gain access into the studio lot after he was fired, and has harassed other employees via phone calls and reaching out to them on social media.
“Based on the last email communication between employee and respondent, and respondent’s strange response of him wanting an apology, we do not want any further engagement with the respondent,” the human resources director of Simmons Media Group wrote in the court documents obtained by Radar.
