Artie Lange Kicked Out Of Rehab For Hiding Painkillers!
Artie Lange was let off easy in court on Friday in his heroin and cocaine possession case, and RadarOnline.com reporters at the hearing learned exclusively the troubled comedian was kicked out of rehab for hiding prescription painkillers.
As RadarOnline.com reported exclusively, Lange was sentenced to four years of probation, 50 hours of community service and an outpatient rehab program stemming from his arrest.
Assistant Prosecutor, Tony Gutierrez, said in Essex County Court in New Jersey on Friday Lange was expected to attend a six-to-twelve month rehabilitation program following his March 2017 drug possession arrest, but instead attended a 30-day program in Connecticut where he was kicked out for using prescription drugs.
Lange, 50, opted for a treatment center in Connecticut where the prosecutor claims the troubled comic found a loose tab of OxyContin inside his jacket and proceeded to take it while still residing at the facility.
The prosecutor explained the program administratively dismissed him, so he didn’t even complete a 28-day stint!
"Mr. Lange is so self destructive that he can’t even seem to even help himself when he’s under the gun of a sentence," Gutierrez added. "He’s either going to be found one day overdosed and dead somewhere or he is going to violate this probation."
Gutierrez also claimed in court that Lange's recent hospitalization for a nasal infection was due to his cocaine use.
Despite the prosecutors plea with the court, Judge Sivilli agreed to give Lange one more shot, but warned him bluntly that doctors were concerned he wouldn't make it through another day if he continued with substance abuse.
"You pose the biggest risk to yourself," the judge told Lange after his sentencing. "One of your doctors said that if you relapse again, you’re basically going to kill yourself."
"I hope you take this sentence seriously and do what you need to do — not only for you but for your family, who depend upon you," she said. "This is your one chance."
Lange is expected to complete an outpatient program and is required to submit information on the program within 10 days.
Any violation of his terms will result in jail time of up to 5 years.
