Real Reason Kate And William Chose Prince Louis As New Baby Name

Kate and William have named new son Prince Louis in a touching tribute to a beloved slain family member.

It’s understood the couple new son’s name is a tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten, the uncle of Prince Philip and great uncle of Prince Charles, who was killed by the IRA in a bomb attack on his family’s fishing boat in Ireland back August 1979.

Mountbatten was well loved by all the Royal Family and his death was a devastating blow at the time.

He served in two world wars and played an integral part in the upbringing of Prince William's father, Prince Charles.

In fact Prince Charles once referred to Lord Mountbatten as “the grandfather I never had” and was known as ‘Uncle Dickie’ by family members.

Louis is the French and English form of the German name Ludwig, which means famous warrior or famous in battle. He is the couple’s third child.

Tiny Prince Louis is now fifth in line to the throne, having overtaken his dad’s brother, Prince Harry.
