The joke backfired.

Arie Luyendyk Jr. and fiancée Lauren Burnham's 'pregnant' April Fool's joke did not go down well with their fans.

The couple announced that they were pregnant with their first child.

The Bachelor star wrote on social media: "Secrets finally out, we have a bunny in the oven! @laurenburnham91"

Alongside an image of a woman, who appeared to be Burnham, clutching what looked like a baby bump.

But after over an hour he wrote: "APRIL FOOLS!"

However, fans slammed the pair on social media over their baby prank.

"You both are disgusting. As someone who struggles with fertility and would love nothing more than to have a baby this is so offensive," wrote one social media user.
