‘Alaskan Bush People’ Matriarch Ami Brown Returning To Show Amid Cancer Recovery

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Filming is officially underway for season 8 of Discovery’s hit show Alaskan Bush People and a source close to production told RadarOnline.com exclusively matriarch Ami Brown will “most definitely be starring in the upcoming season!”

As fans know, the 54-year-old longtime wife of Billy Brown, 64, had been battling late stage lung cancer for over a year, but after the family relocated to California to support Ami, her cancer miraculously disappeared! Insiders reveal she's currently in remission while filming for the upcoming season 8 in a remote location in Washington.

Ami is doing okay right now. She has been through a lot and is still frail, but she is doing alright,” the source told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

“The family puts her first and they will continue to support her recovery in every way possible, even if it means putting her before the show, which they have done many times throughout the past year.”

For months, rumors ran rampant that she show was being cancelled due, in part, to Ami’s ailing health.

However, Executive Vice President of Public Relations for Discovery, Laurie Goldberg, shot down those rumors this week telling RadarOnline.com, “The rumors of the cancellation of Alaskan Bush People are totally fabricated and completely untrue!”

According to Goldberg, the reason for the delay in production had to do with “extreme weather conditions” and severe family health issues pertaining to Ami’s son’s Noah and Gabe Brown — not to the matriarch herself!

“Billy, Ami and all of their children are incredibly excited to be filming for the new season right now, as are we at Discovery,” Goldberg told RadarOnline.com.
