World Famous Scientist Stephen Hawking Laid To Rest Before Family And Friends
World famous scientist Stephen Hawking has been laid to rest.
His funeral took place at a Cambridge church in England near to Gonville and Caius College, where he was a fellow for 52 years.
Thousands lined the streets to pay their respects to Hawking while actor Eddie Redmayne paid tribute to the man he played in 'The Theory Of Everything'.
Redmayne gave an emotional reading at Prof Hawking's funeral, with Ecclesiastes 3.1-11 as the chosen text.
This was followed by a reading by the Astronomer Royal, Martin Rees.
Redmayne's co-star, Felicity Jones, also attended the funeral for Hawkins who died aged 76 at his home on March 14.
The service was held at Great St Mary's Church and Prof Hawking's family, including ex wife Jane Hawking, son Timothy Hawking and daughter Lucy Hawking, who were pictured leaving the church in tears.
The renowned scientist's ashes will be interred at Westminster Abbey next to Isaac Newton's grave and near to Charles Darwin's.
