"The wedding will take place in the autumn of 2018 at George's Chapel in Windsor, with further details to be announced in due course," the royal family statement continued.

According to the royals' Twitter page, the 27-year-old princess "became engaged in Nicaragua earlier this month."

Eugenie had been dating Jack for about seven years, after they met through mutual friends when she was still in college.

A source told PEOPLE that Eugenie's parents, Fergie and Andrew, "appear to be very fond," of the princess' new fiancé, 30.

"Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank were photographed earlier today following the announcement of their engagement," shared the royal family after announcing the happy news.

As Radar readers know, the news of Eugenie and Jack's engagement comes after Meghan and Harry announced their happy news, and after Duchess Kate Middleton revealed she was expecting her third child with Prince William!

It's a happy time for the royal family!
