A 21-year-old Pennsylvania bodybuilder tragically died due to complications from the flu, RadarOnline.com can exclusively confirm.
Kyler Baughman passed away on December 28 after he visited his parents for the holidays.
"That death was only reported to us. He was never brought in here," a spokesperson for the Allegheny County Medical Examiner Office told RadarOnline.com. "One of the physicians where he was at signed off on the death certificate. It was called in as a natural death."
"The immediate cause of death was multi-organ failure due to septic shock due to influenza," the spokesperson continued. "No toxicology was performed."
It is unknown if other factors could have contributed to his death, however, nothing suspicious was discovered.
"There are certain circumstances in which we are required to assume jurisdiction of the body," noted the spokesperson. "Whether the pathologist decides to conduct an autopsy is up to him or her based upon the available information given to them."
Baughman's mother, Beverly, told Pittsburgh's WPXI that her son did not look very well when he visited.
"We saw him the 23rd for our family Christmas get-together and we noticed he wasn't feeling well,” she said. “He looked rundown and had a bit of a snotty nose."
"I think he thought, 'I just got the flu, I'll be alright. I'll go rest a little bit,'" added Baughman's mom.
Baughman was studying to become a personal trainer.
