CNN Anchor Erin Burnett Suffers Bizarre On-Air Eye Issue
Dec. 19 2017, Published 6:16 p.m. ET
CNN star Erin Burnett shocked viewers when she appeared on her news program with an eye that she could barely open.
“I have a bad cold and literally minutes before the show my eye obviously was affected,” the Erin Burnett OutFront anchor tweeted on Dec. 18. “Sorry all!”
One expert, Cherry Hills, New Jersey-based ophthalmologist Ravi D. Goel, M.D., who does not treat Burnett, gave her a possible diagnosis of “likely viral conjunctivitis.”
Still, fans worried that Burnett’s condition was something more serious.
“Are you ok? You've sound like you have pneumonia on the air for almost a week now,” one fan tweeted 41-year-old Burnett.
Another begged on social media, “Good Lord CNN, give Erin Burnett a day (week) off, she DOES NOT look well.”
While Burnett clearly needs to recover from her current condition, a source exclusively revealed to RadarOnline.com, "She refuses to let anyone cover her show because she is afraid to let any other anchors be in her time slot.”

Burnett isn’t the only one struggling at CNN.
According to an insider, pregnant journalist Kate Bolduan finished her last day for a while so she can be induced and deliver her baby on Friday.
“Staffers and crew couldn’t be happier,” said the insider of the 34-year-old State of America with Kate Bolduan anchor.
“This pregnancy has been the worst — she has been rude and at times explosive to everyone in her path.”
“She seems very unhappy most days snapping at people on set and just being overbearing,” added the insider.
