Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson, 23, has jam-packed his summer hiatus schedule with acting jobs and stand-up gigs, and friends fear his busy calendar could derail his sobriety, RadarOnline.com has learned.

“This is exactly what lead up to his problems in the first place,” says a worried pal. “Pete filling his calendar with side projects and touring his standup in July is smart from a money-making perspective, but dumb from a sobriety one.”

Davidson is busy developing a TV special, working on new stand-up material, and touring colleges across the country.

“Most of the time when he's on the road he's totally alone, and that's how he got mixed up with the drugs and heavy boozing in the first place,” his friend said.

But Davidson says he’s in a different place in his life now, and not a slave to weed.

“Just wanted to let you guys know I'm okay...," Davidson said on Instagram recently. "I quit drugs and am happy and sober for the first time in 8 years."

Davidson has always been open about his struggles with drugs. Much of his act details his obsession with pot. Now friends are worried the busy comedian could be headed down a slippery slope.

"He needs to slow down and take stock instead of rushing toward the next opportunity or he’ll end up in rehab," says the worried pal.
