Amber Portwood's battle with mental illness became so severe that she was forced to abandon her daughter for nearly a month. In another bizarre rant, the Teen Mom OG star revealed how suffering from bipolar and borderline personality disorder almost forced her to be admitted to an institution.
Portwood turned to Instagram to explain her ex-fiancé Gary Shirley's claims that she didn't see her daughter Leah, 8, for a month.
"I want to make it clear that it wasn't a month, that was an exaggeration," she clarified. "In that time I hadn't seen her, I literally didn't know what was going on with myself, I was in a deep depression where I didn't want to get out of bed."
Portwood then revealed she considered seeking outpatient treatment.
"It was to the point where I was going to institutionalize myself," she confessed. "To the point where Matt was actually going to institutionalize me."
Although Portwood claims to have found the right treatment for her bipolar and borderline personality disorder, she admitted she'll "be on medication the rest of her life just to feel normal."
She ended the rant with, "I love my daughter to death. You see the relationship we have and that we've built. There is nothing that could ever break that bond."
But despite being unable to see her daughter, her battle hasn't stopped her from jetting off to New York City and Los Angeles in recent months.
The latest confession comes after Portwood slammed fans for speaking negatively of her plastic surgery procedures.
"This body shaming going off on my Twitter, get the f**k off my Twitter." Portwood fired. "I lost 40 pounds by myself, gained it back because I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and got on a certain medication."
She then called her fans "jealous."
"What the f**k are you commenting for," she asked. "You don't like me? Bye!"
