Hot Car Killer's Ex-Wife Takes The Stand On Day 17: 'It Still Doesn't Feel Real'
Oct. 31 2016, Published 2:36 p.m. ET
Justin Ross Harris' ex-wife Leanna Taylor took the stand on the 17th day of the hot car death trial to begin her testimony. Taylor was brought to tears as she described the moment she discovered her ex-husband had not dropped off their 22-month-old son Cooper at daycare.
"I started looking around for Cooper, the teacher said, 'What are you doing here?'" Taylor described to the court. "'I'm here to get Cooper' and she said, 'Cooper's not here.'"
Taylor explained how she thought the daycare teacher was "joking" at first.
"I went into a panic," she said. "I didn't know what to do. I was starting to lose my ability to understand what was going on. It didn't make sense."
Taylor couldn't get in touch with her then-husband, as his phone kept going straight to voicemail.
"They told me my son was deceased," she said of when detectives told her of her toddler's death. "I didn't know if Ross was okay, I didn't know anything and I just wanted them to tell me what happened. Sometimes it still doesn't feel real."
Taylor also explained how the couple struggled to conceive because Harris suffered from erectile dysfunction disorder.

When they found out they were pregnant in November 2011, on her ex-husband's birthday, she said he was "very excited."
Taylor also described a blowout they had when she discovered a flirty text from another woman on his phone.
"I exploded," she said. "I was very angry. It was the most upset I have probably seen Ross. He was very concerned I was going to leave him, I was going to take Cooper."
Taylor explained how she "would've left" if she knew of his multiple affairs throughout their marriage because "it wouldn't have been able to be undone."
Harris is on trial for murder after he left his son in the back seat of his SUV in June 2014. His defense claims it was an accident.
