Jon Gosselin's new reality is much more harsh than it once was.
The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star, who once made millions as the famous Gosselin brood's exhausted father on the onetime TLC series, is now working as a line cook at chain restaurant TGI Friday's, his general manager exclusively confirms to RadarOnline.com.
"Yes, Jon works here," Scott Trompeter, the general manager of the franchise's Lancaster, Pennsylvania location, tells Radar, adding that the two have been friends for years in the local DJ scene. "He's a great chef. He does a great job and gets along well with everyone."
Gosselin's manager also claims that the 39-year-old father of eight, who has struggled with finances over the years, donates his paycheck to charity.
Another friend says the part-time DJ has gushed about his amazing life in recent weeks— but the boasts seem bogus.
"He said he is very happy working at the restaurant, and is having fun with it," the insider reveals. "However, it seems like he can't accept that fame and opportunity have passed him by."
Though he once snagged big time DJ placements at venues in New Jersey's Atlantic City, he is currently scrounging for local Pennsylvania gigs.
"The novelty has worn off with the public," the friend admits. "He's struggling. It's just not happening like he thought it would."
Sadly, despite his demotion from national television to the kitchen, Gosselin still believes he has a chance for a reality comeback, his pal claims: "Sometimes Jon can be delusional."
Between shifts at Fridays, Gosselin is concentrating on his kids and maintaining semi-civil relations with his nemesis, ex-wife Kate, 40.
